SIMCOE MUSKOKA – The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is offering one-day pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics at locations throughout Simcoe Muskoka from March 15 to 20.

SIMCOE MUSKOKA – The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is offering one-day pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics at locations throughout Simcoe Muskoka from March 15 to 20. Walk-ins for first, second, third and booster doses for individuals 12 and up, as well as first and second dose paediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 are available on a first-come basis.

The health unit strongly encourages those who are eligible to get their vaccine, particularly a booster dose, as soon as they can as a booster dose helps to reduce your risk for severe illness and chance of requiring hospitalization if you become infected with COVID-19. Youth aged 12 to 17 are eligible for a booster shot at least six months (or 168 days) after they received their second dose, while adults 18 years and older can receive a booster three months (84 days) after their second dose.

Appointments for the Cottage Country Family Health Team in Gravenhurst and the Algonquin Family Health Team in Huntsville can be booked through the COVID-19 vaccination portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900. Select pharmacies are also providing vaccines.

When attending a clinic, individuals are encouraged to dress for the weather as they may be required to wait outdoors before entering the clinic. They are also reminded to bring identification (e.g., health card, driver’s license, passport) a list of any medications they are taking, wear a loose-fitting shirt that allows easy access to the upper arm and bring any assistive devices as needed (e.g., scooter, wheelchair, cane).
