Food and Nutrition

Children

Children aged two years and older can get the nutrients and calories they need for healthy growth and development by following Canada’s Food Guide.

Serve small meals and snacks to children to meet their daily recommended Food Guide Servings because children have small stomachs that tend to fill up quickly. They need to eat small amounts of food throughout the day. Do not restrict nutritious foods because of their fat content. Offer a variety of foods from the four food groups. Most of all - be a good role model.
