Health Unit Services

NOTICE: All SMDHU offices and our Health Connection line will be closed on Monday, October 14 in observance of Thanksgiving. Water testing bottles will not be accepted.
 
We will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, October 15 at 8:30 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Working with individuals and families, as well as groups and community partners, we help people make healthy choices and changes. We also work:

  • with businesses and municipalities to ensure the places we live, work and play are healthy. For example, it’s important to us that your food is safe, your environment is smoke-free, and your community is walkable.
  • with partners in the community to tackle the social issues that affect our health. For example, we focus on poverty, housing and food security issues.
  • in many settings, including schools, childcare centres, workplaces and long-term care facilities to offer programs, services and support that prevent illness and injury and promote health.
