Safe Water

Water is essential to life. We depend on water to drink, clean and cook as well as for recreational purposes like fishing and swimming.

Learn how you can take a water sample; understand the results and ways to improve your water quality. To ensure the safety of your drinking water you should test your well at least three times per year. Water sample bottles can be picked up at any of our offices and dropped off at 6 of the 7 health unit offices (Orillia office does not accept water bottle drop off) or the Public Health Laboratory in Orillia within 24 hours. Please check with your local office for sample drop off times.

The health unit also monitors beach water quality at some of our public beaches throughout the summer months. During the summer months we will list active beach posting and closures
