Breastfeeding

Child health experts around the world agree:

When it comes to feeding your baby, Breast is Best

Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Canadian Paediatric Society all recommend that:

  • Babies be fed only breast milk for the first 6 months of life.
  • After 6 months of age, breastfeeding should continue, along with complementary foods, for up to two years and beyond.

Breastfeeding offers many benefits for babies, mothers, families, and our environment.

Breast milk is:

  •  A natural choice: made by human mothers for human babies
  •  A healthy choice: offers health protection for mom and for baby
  •  A smart choice: supports baby’s growth and development
  •  A convenient choice: always fresh, ready, and the perfect temperature
  •  A cost effective choice: the most economical source of infant nutrition
  •  A safe and secure choice: when travelling or in an emergency
  •  An environmentally friendly choice: no manufacturing process, no waste
