Immunization

COVID-19 Vaccine

Ontario now follows a bi-annual COVID-19 vaccination program. Like with influenza, each year an updated vaccine is available to better protect against new strains.

The vaccine is free for everyone 6 months and older, even if you don’t have an Ontario health card.

Spring Campaign

Individuals in the following high-risk groups should receive a dose of COVID-19 vaccine this spring:

  • Adults 80 years of age and older.
  • Adult residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings for seniors.
  • Individuals 6 months of age and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised (due to an underlying condition or treatment).
  • Individuals 55 years and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Metis and their non-Indigenous household members who are 55 years and older.

Adults aged 65-79 years may receive an additional dose in the spring, in particular those with medical conditions.

*Those not listed above can begin or complete their primary series in the fall.
