Healthy Eating

A healthy lifestyle includes eating well, being active, being sun safe and going for regular cancer screening.  Your health is also shaped by the places you live, work, learn and play and the policies that impact your daily life.

Eating a healthy diet is an important way to stay healthy and reduce your risk of chronic diseases. Being involved in your community and speaking out for changes that will make your community a healthy place to live can also make a difference in your health and the overall health of your community.

Did you know that most Canadians do not eat enough vegetables and fruit?  Many Canadians eat almost a quarter of their energy from foods that fall outside the four food groups.  Learn about healthy eating for you and your family by following the links on the sidebar on this page.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit works with many community groups and organizations towards building healthier communities.  Check out other health topics like Physical Activity, Sun Safety and Cancer to find out how to build a lifetime of good health.
