Board of Health meetings are open to the public. Individuals who wish to attend must notify the Board of Health secretary at least two business days in advance, as outlined in the Meeting Transparency and Confidentiality Policy.

Some matters, however, must remain confidential. In these cases, the board may move into a meeting closed to the public, commonly referred to as an “in camera” session, in accordance with its meeting procedures and the Municipal Act. Members of the public and media in attendance will be asked to leave during the in camera session and will be invited to return when the open session resumes, as noted in the agenda. 

The meeting schedule is provided below. If a regular meeting date changes, notice will be provided to Board of Health members and posted on the website at least 48 hours before the meeting, including the meeting time and location.

Meeting agendas and supporting materials are provided to Board of Health members at minimum 48 hours prior to each meeting. Program reports are included in the meeting package and presented by the program director or designate. Reports become public once accepted by the Board of Health.

Meeting Schedule

The Board of Health meets at 9:15 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, except in July, August and December. Additional meetings may be held, if required, at 9:15 a.m. on the first Wednesday of those months.

Unless otherwise noted, meetings are held in person at 15 Sperling Drive, Barrie. A virtual attendance option is available exclusively to Board members.

Meeting Minutes

Board of Health meeting minutes are distributed to members before each meeting with the agenda and supporting materials. Minutes become public once accepted by the Board of Health. The minutes from past meetings are available here.
