Add Vaccines to Your Back-to-School Checklist
As families get ready for the new school year, the health unit is reminding parents to make sure their children's immunizations are up to date. Keeping up with routine vaccinations is one of the most effective ways to protect your child's health and helps ensure a smooth return to school, sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.
Are Your Child’s Immunizations Up to Date?
- In May, letters were mailed to high school students born in 2008 and 2009 (entering Grades 11 and 12) if they were missing required vaccines. Follow-up letters will be sent in August. School suspensions begin September 23.
- In June, letters were sent home in students’ backpacks for children born in 2016 and 2017 (entering Grades 2 and 3).
If you received one of these letters, now is the perfect time to catch up on any missing vaccines.
