Talk one-to-one with a public health nurse, just a phone call away Monday through Friday  705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 (toll free) to speak with a public health nurse. You can also email your question to us.

Health Unit Breastfeeding Supports

Weekly drop-in programs for new families that provide an opportunity for both peer and professional support in an informal setting. These programs offer new mothers:

  • A welcoming place to breastfeed
  • A chance to talk about breastfeeding, infant and child health, developmental stages, and parenting
  • An opportunity to ask questions and receive support from a public health nurse
  • Mom-to-mom support in a friendly group atmosphere

The Breastfeeding Place

  • Barrie Ontario Early Years Center (OEYC) 72 Ross Street, Wednesdays 1:00-2:30 pm
  • Collingwood Ontario Early Years Center (OEYC) 250A Peel Street, Wednesdays 10:30 am to 12:00 noon
  • Alliston Ontario Early years (OEYC) 13 Wellington Street West, Wednesdays 1:00 to 2:30 pm
  • Midland Ontario Early Years Center (OEYC) 356 King Street, 3rd Wednesday 10:30 am -12:00 noon.  (March and December occur on second Wednesday)

Breastfeeding Clinics

Barrie and Community Family Health Team - Lactation Services

  • Call to make an appointment with a Lactation Consultant 705-725-8796
  • Available Monday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 125 Bell Farm Road, Suite 101
  • Patients can self-refer to this program and do not need to be a member of the Barrie Family Health Team to access this service.
