What is Colon Cancer?

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in both men and women. The term colorectal refers to two parts of the lower intestine; the colon and rectum. Cancer develops when cells that line the colon and rectum begin to grow out of control.

Ontario's incidence of colorectal cancer is among the highest in the world.

Colorectal cancer - also known as colon cancer - is usually diagnosed after age 50 and is slightly more common among men.

Colorectal cancer is highly preventable, treatable and often curable.
