- Increase knowledge and awareness of infection prevention and control.
- Study disease trends to assist in preventing further spread.
- Respond to concerns about infection prevention and control in public settings.

Learn About Reportable Diseases
There are more than 50 infectious diseases, like food poisoning, influenza, and measles that must be reported to the health unit. Timely reporting of these diseases by health care professionals is required to help us stop their spread. It’s important to get the facts about all reportable diseases.
There are many ways to prevent infection:
- Wash your hands properly
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Keep immunizations up-to-date
- Stay home when you’re sick
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs and light switches
