Going to school during COVID-19

We continue our commitment to supporting the safe reopening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year under the Ministry of Education’s Guide to reopening Ontario’s schools.

The decision to reopen schools in Simcoe Muskoka for in-person learning in February 2021 is supported by enhanced health and safety protocols announced by the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. These new measures include:

  • Students in Grades 1 to 3 will be required to wear masks.
  • New requirements for mask wearing outdoors at school.
  • Enhanced screening protocols.
  • Expanded targeted testing.

We continue to work closely with school boards and schools in Simcoe Muskoka to promote a safe and healthy school environment and to protect the broader community.
