SIMCOE MUSKOKA - So far this fall, Ontario is only seeing low levels of influenza activity, and there have been no lab confirmed cases in Simcoe Muskoka.

There are lots of colds going around though, so it’s smart to get into the habits of handwashing, covering up when sneezing or coughing, keeping surfaces clean and staying home when sick.

And because it’s still early, this is the best time to get the flu shot.

The flu shot is your best protection against influenza. And it protects those around you, too, because you can’t spread it.

Personal health care professionals and pharmacists are offering flu vaccine throughout the region. To find a clinic near you, visit http://ontario.ca/flu.

For more information about the cold or the flu, call Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or visit the health unit’s website at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org
