Looking for a health unit flu clinic?

It’s not too late for you to find a pharmacy that offers the flu shot, or to talk to your personal care provider about getting the flu shot for you and the rest of your family. Visit the website www.ontario.ca/flu to find locations near you.

This year, the immunization work has been handled by more than 100 pharmacies across Simcoe and Muskoka as well as by many personal health care providers. Since the province gave authority to pharmacists to provide the flu vaccine, the number of people getting their flu shots from the health unit clinics has dropped off dramatically.

The health unit can also provide the flu vaccine under some circumstances:

  • for children under 5 whose families don’t have a personal health care provider,
  • for people who do not have a personal care provider and don’t have a pharmacy near them,
  • for people without an Ontario health card.

For flu vaccine at the health unit, an appointment is required. Call Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

While it takes about two weeks for the vaccine to become effective, the protection will last all season, and will help prevent the spread of the flu to others.
