Child Care

Child Care Information for Operators

There are certain regulations that child care operators are required to follow under the Child Care and Early Year Act, 2014.

We want to help keep children in your care healthy and safe by providing information on important public health topics that are relevant to your daily child care operations such as:

Childhood illnesses and conditions

We offer helpful information about common childhood illnesses, exclusion recommendations as well as how to report  Diseases of Public Health Significance (French version) to your local health unit.

Outbreak management

We provide tools such as checklists, line lists and outbreak signage to help manage enteric and respiratory outbreaks in your child care centre.

Infection prevention and control

We provide information that will help you and your staff minimize the risk of spreading germs within your child care. This includes the prevention of diseases spread by animals in child care centres.

Child care nutrition

We provide tools and resources to support you in planning and preparing healthy food for the children that are in your care.

For more information call our Infectious Diseases team at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 ext. 8809, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
