Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Canada and also one of the most preventable. Being sun safe is an important way to reduce your risk of skin cancer.
The health unit works to help reduce the risk of skin cancer by supporting sun safety in our communities.
We:
- Provide reliable information to the public about sun safety.
- Support community partners who are interested in developing sun safety and shade policies.
What Matters to Your Health
Enjoy the sun safely:
- Before going outdoors check the local weather for the UV rating in your area.
- Protect your skin and eyes from the sun's harmful rays
- Don't deliberately tan. No tan is a safe tan.
- Educate yourself about the signs and symptoms of skin cancer.
