Public Health Dietitians

Public health dietitians provide information and support healthy eating programs in the community. To get involved in any of the healthy eating programs listed contact us at 1-877-721-7520.  

Dietitians in Hospitals

Contact your local hospital and inquire about the services of a Registered Dietitian.  

Eating Disorder Services

The North Simcoe Healthline services Muskoka District, Midland, Penetanguishene & Area, Orillia & Area, Collingwood & Area and Barrie & Area. Check out the services available to North Simcoe Muskoka residents.

Family Health Teams

Family Health Teams are being opened throughout Ontario to provide improved access to healthcare services. A team of health professionals, including Registered Dietitians are available at the six LHIN: North Simcoe Muskoka Family Health Teams and the Alliston Family Health Team (in LHIN Central). Contact your doctor to find out if the services of a Registered Dietitian are available through their practice.

Home and Community Care Support Services

Clients receiving homecare may qualify for services from a dietitian at the Home and Community Care.  

Diabetes Education Program

Find a diabetes education program near you. Diabetes education programs offer individual and group education and support to individuals 18 and older who are living with diabetes. These services offered at no-cost to the public. Your family physician or Nurse Practitioner can provide a referral, or you can refer yourself if you do not have a primary care provider.

Grocery Store Dietitians

Some grocery store and supermarket chains employ Registered Dietitians as a service to the community. In Simcoe Muskoka, these services are offered at local Zehrs and Loblaws stores. Grocery store Registered Dietitians offer a variety of paid services, including:

  • Grocery store tours – Hands-on nutrition education throughout the store to identify healthier products for your specific needs. These can be customized for individuals and groups. Topics include: healthy eating for diabetes, family nutrition tips and ideas, and weight management.
  • School field trips – tailored to curriculum requirements for students in grade K-6.
  • Personalized nutrition check-ups – One-on-one counseling based on individual needs.
  • Healthy cooking classes
  • Nutrition Q & A –opportunity to ask questions or receive recommendations about products in-person, by phone, or over email.

To find out when your in-store dietitian is available, visit the pharmacy or customer service in your Loblaws or Zehrs store. Schedules are also available online or you can contact your in-store dietitian directly:

Shopper's Drug Mart Online Dietitian Services

Shopper's Drug Mart employs Registered Dietitians who offer virtual nutrition counselling to Ontario residents. They offer paid nutrition packages tailored to all ages and stages of life.
