Action Cards
What Is It?
Action Cards is a great event you can do in your workplace to help staff get active in a fun way. Players exchange daily physical activity for cards and points. The event is run over a two-week period.
Here Is How It Works!
The names of people who are participating in the event are added to a master game sheet. The event coordinator keeps the master sheet.
At the beginning of the event participants randomly draw 5 cards from a deck and start off with 100 points float. The event coordinator keeps the deck of cards.
Each day that someone is active for 30 minutes to 1 hour the event coordinator gives them 50 additional points. Each additional hour of activity each day corresponds to 50 additional points.
Physical activity can be exchanged for a new card for 50 points. When a new card is drawn an old card has to be given up. The more cards that are exchanged the more points are given up. The 100-point float can be used to buy a new card. If someone draws a card identical to one they have in their hand (ie. they end up with 2 king of clubs) let them redraw.
All participants monitor and record their own activity on a daily basis.
At the end of the first week all participants tell the event administrator how much activity they have done each day and what cards they want to cash in.
The person with the most points is the winner. A prize can be given to the winner. To reward all participants a number of prizes of different values can be exchanged for chips.
