Emergency/Urgent Dental Care Funding
On a year to year basis, the Oral Health team receives funding from the County of Simcoe to help teens from families in financial need access urgent dental treatment.

Communicable Disease 


Communicable Disease Response
The Communicable Disease team responds to disease outbreaks in schools by investigating and managing the outbreak, following up with those who may be affected and offering post-outbreak education on infection prevention and control and personal protection.

Immunization 

Adacel vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis) is offered to youth ages 14 to 16 years. The Meningococcal C vaccine is offered to all youth ages 15 to 19 years.

Preconception Health Lesson Plans
Preconception health lesson plans are available that offer information and classroom activities that compliment health and social studies’ curriculum.

Triple P: Positive Parenting Program
The Triple P program offers parenting education for adults seeking support in parenting adolescents. Topics include promoting positive behaviours in adolescents, managing normal challenges of parenting, etc.

Tobacco

Not to Kids Interactive Game Show
This large group activity for grade 9-10 students focuses on tobacco use including health effects, laws, and tobacco industry marketing tactics.

Youth Stomp Out Tobacco Media Contest
Students prepare 30-second radio or video messages around tobacco use prevention targeting peers. Students are invited to submit their ads into a county-wide contest. Links with media studies, English, drama, computer technology, health education curriculum.

Judging takes place in May each school year. First and second semester submissions are welcome

High School Grants for Youth – Led Tobacco Work
Grants of $1,000 are available to each high school for student–led tobacco use prevention, cessation, protection projects. Links with arts, peer leadership, drama, media studies and physical education curriculum, building leadership, presentation and advocacy skills.

Tobacco-Free Sports Team Policies

Sports teams develop team policies that deter tobacco use with sports, specifically chew, snus and spit tobacco. School team members agree to be tobacco free as a condition of membership.

School Cafeteria program, Eat Well to Excel, Food For Learning), physical activity (e.g., Active and Safe Routes to Schools) and sun safety.

“T and C” is a day-long, drug and alcohol awareness conference for Grade 9 students, addressing the substance abuse expectations of the Grade 9 Healthy Living Strand curriculum.

Risky Drinking Resource Box
A box full of alcohol and other drug use/abuse prevention tools such as DVD's, curriculum support material, booklets, informational postcards, posters etc. for educators and students to use. Training is provided to teachers on how to use the box effectively.
