When we meet…The Board of Health meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am with the exception of the months of July and August when meetings are scheduled if required. The Board of Health may also meet if required on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30. Committee and Board of Health meetings are open to the public. The schedule and location of meetings can be accessed via the link below. In the case of a change in the regularly scheduled meeting, a notice of change will be sent to Board of Health members and posted to the website advising of the time and place at least forty-eight (48) hours before the meeting is to take place. Opportunity for public input…The Board of Health is committed to involving the community in determining what public health programs and services are needed in Simcoe County and Muskoka District. People are encouraged to speak with health unit staff about their health issues and concerns. Individuals and groups can also present their issues or concerns directly to the Board of Health. In order to be included on the board agenda, written information must be sent to the Medical Officer of Health at least two working days before the board meeting. If you wish to present information to the board, contact the Medical Officer of Health at least two working days before the meeting to arrange time on the agenda. Keep the presentation to 10 minutes or less. All requests to present at board meetings must be approved by the Board of Health Chairperson. Agendas…The agenda and related information is prepared and sent to the Board of Health members a week in advance of the meeting. Written program reports are sent with board materials and addressed by the program director or designate at the meeting. Reports are made public once accepted by the Board of Health. Minutes…Minutes of board of health are prepared and sent to the Board of Health members along with the agenda and related information in advance of the meeting. Minutes are made public once accepted by the Board of Health. In camera…Occasionally items on the Board of Health agenda are discussed "In Camera". Only the Board of Health members and specific individuals involved with the issue being discussed will be allowed to remain in the meeting. Examples of time when this will occur include: the discussion of personnel matters where the individual(s) are identified; discussions of labour relations or negotiations; and discussions on legal issues. The Board of Health would reconvene its official meeting to formally endorse any directions or recommendations coming out of an "In Camera" session. The recommendations and directions would then become part of the Board of Health minutes and be made public. Reports and presentations…Written program reports are sent with board materials and addressed by the program director or designate at the meeting. Reports are made public once accepted by the Board of Health. Last Updated - Thursday, January 17, 2008
