Drivers

  • Keep your eyes on the road and both hands on the wheel.
  • Drive Sober! Do not drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Be aware that driving with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.05 or more (this means there is 50 milligrams of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of blood) result in an immediate roadside license suspension. See Impaired Driving Consequences.
  • Don't be distracted by eating, drinking, or using your cell phone or other hand held device.
  • Children must be in the appropriate car seat for their height and weight. Child Passenger Safety is a requirement by law.
  • Always yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk or pedestrian crossover.
  • Never pass a stopped car when approaching a marked pedestrian crossover. The driver ahead may be stopped for a person crossing the roadway.
  • Always look for cyclists before opening your car door into traffic.
  • Do not tailgate. Maintain a sufficient distance from the car in front of you so that you will have plenty of distance to stop.
  • Signal your intentions early enough to give others time to prepare for your next move.
