Triple P- Small Changes, Big Differences
Parenting is a tough job and while there is plenty of information out there, it can be tough to sort out good quality information that offers clear, practical and useful strategies for parenting.
The Positive Parenting Program, known as Triple P, is a series of parenting programs that cuts through the information clutter to help give ordinary families the confidence and problem-solving skills to make small and positive changes that can make a big difference.
Parents can choose how they receive the coaching they need; they can talk with someone over the telephone, in person, individually or in a group, depending on what they need and how they want to connect about their parenting issues.
Triple P is based on a core set of skills that emphasizes plenty of encouragement for positive behaviour, with an underlying belief that recognizing children doing the right thing is key to improving behaviour.
From dealing with the two-year-old’s tantrums to the truant teenager, Triple P offers practical and positive strategies for common everyday behavioural issues that can be very helpful in changing how parents work together with their children to improve behaviour over time. There are a variety of programs for all groups, ranging from dealing with sibling rivalry and separation anxiety, to handling anger and raising responsible teenagers.
Triple P programs are available through a variety of providers in Simcoe County and a growing number in Muskoka as well as in other communities across Ontario. People can access the Triple P programs that meet their particular needs through Ontario Early Years Centres, The Learning Centres of the Simcoe County District School Board, and a variety of health and social service providers in our area.
