Why is there such a big emphasis on drinking milk?

Milk and milk alternatives provide calcium, vitamins A, D, and B12, riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, potassium, protein and fat. Many of these nutrients are important for developing strong bones and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. People should drink 2 cups (500mL) of milk every day because it’s the main food source of vitamin D. Depending on your age, you may need more than 2 cups a day.

Check out this video to learn more about how many milk and alternatives you need each day.
