Canada’s Food Guide recommends eating at least 2 servings of fish each week (total of 150 grams or 5 ounces) because of the heart healthy fats and other beneficial nutrients. However, there are some concerns about mercury content in some types of fish. Read the Health Matters June 2009 Mercury and Seafood article for more information about specific recommendations. See Health Canada’s Mercury in Fish Consumption Advice: Making Informed Choices about Fish for more detailed information and advice.
