Tips for Safer Medication Use:

  1. Inform your MD and Pharmacist of all medications.
  2. Keep a list of all medications in your wallet and on your fridge.
  3. Learn the side effects of all your medications and tell your MD and Pharmacist about any that you are experiencing.
  4. Go to only ONE pharmacy.
  5. Return medication that you are not using to your drug store for disposal.
  6. Try alternative sleeping medications such as relaxation tapes or a cup of warm milk.
  7. Seniors are more sensitive to medication and may be on several for various health problems.
  8. Drugs and alcohol don’t mix!
  9. Drug combinations could increase risk of falls and other injuries by causing confusion, drowsiness and poor coordination.
  10. Take pain medication as prescribed and avoid sharing with others.
  11. Check with the MD or Pharmacist before using any over-the-counter and herbal medications.
  12. Request large print on your medication bottle labels.
  13. Please remember to keep your medications safely out of the reach of children.
