Disposal of Used Supplies

Used needles, crack stems and all other supplies can be disposed of by: 

  • Visiting any Exchange Works locations during their business hours. They will accept your used materials, packaged in bio-bins, or other safe containers. 
  • Accessing the 24 hour needle drop box located in front of the Orillia Common Roof building, 169 Front St. South Orillia.    
  • Accessing the 24 hours needle drop slot located at 80 Bradford Street, Barrie, located beside the Health Unit staff entrance  
  • Accessing the 24 Hour needle sharps container located behind the Huntsville Health Unit Office, 34 Chaffey St. 

For more information call the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit 705-721-7520 or toll free at 1-877-721-7520 and ask to speak with a Nurse about Harm Reduction or Needle Exchange.

Disposal of used supplies:

  • The health unit accepts these containers for safe disposal, decreasing the incidence of used needles and other equipment being left in common use public areas, like parks
  • Drop off used equipment in sharps containers or other safe containers at any health unit location or needle exchange partner location
  • 24 hour needle drop box locations at are also available:
      • The Orillia Common Roof building 169 Front St South Orillia
      • Barrie Health unit location, 80 Bradford Street Barrie
      • Huntsville Health Unit 34 Chaffey St. Huntsville
