The Pap Test

The Pap test is a simple screening test that takes only a few minutes and can be done during a visit to your doctor or health care provider.

The Pap test looks at the cells of your cervix. It can show unhealthy changes in these cells. Unhealthy cells can sometimes lead to cancer.

The best times to have the Pap test are:

  • when you do not have your menstrual period
  • when you have not had sex for 1 day (24 hours) before the test
  • when you have not put anything such as foams or medicine in your vagina for two days (48 hours)

If you do not have a health care provider you can contact “Your Health Connection” at 1-877-721-7520 for more information.
