Local Breastfeeding Services

roleWhether your grandchild is just beginning to breastfeed or has been breastfeeding for many months, sometimes breastfeeding help is needed. Many breastfeeding mothers find friendship and support through mom-to-mom support groups and professional breastfeeding services.

There are many things you can do to show your grandbaby’s parents that you care about their decision to begin breastfeeding and to keep it going. It is valuable for you to know where breastfeeding information and help is located in their community.

 A map of prenatal & breastfeeding services that are available in communities across Simcoe Muskoka
  • Breastfeeding Place: Mom-to-mom and public health nurse support. For dates, times and locations in Barrie, Alliston and Collingwood call Health Connections.
  • Barrie & Community Family Health Team (BCFHT) Lactation Services: Offers 1-1 support with a lactation consultant or public health nurse. Can self-refer and do not need to be a member of the BCFHT. For an appointment call 705-721-0370.
  • Chigamik Drop-In Breastfeeding Clinic: Offers drop-in breastfeeding support with a lactation consultant and registered nurse. Wednesday 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm. 845 King St. Unit #10, Midland.
  • Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare Huntsville District Memorial Hospital: Offers 1-1 support with a lactation consultant. For an appointment call 705-789-2311 ext: 2261
  • Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Breastfeeding Clinic: Offers 1-1 support with a lactation consultant. For an appointment call 705-325-2201 ext. 3573.
