To Parents of Children in Simcoe County District School Board and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board

Due to the high number of students eligible for suspension, the health unit has decided to not enforce suspension orders at this time for students in the Simcoe County District School Board and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic School Board in an effort to avoid causing a major disruption to the students, their families and schools.

This notice affects students of those two school boards in Grades 2 and 3 whose immunization records were incomplete and whose suspensions would have come into effect on February 11.

Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, (ISPA), health units must review immunization records of school children to ensure they are up to date. This helps to ensure that children receive all their vaccinations on time, and protects vulnerable students from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Parents are being notified through their schools of the details of this measure.
