Anaphylaxis & AutoInjector Training

Teachers, please refer to your school board policies first.  

Ministry of Education - information about anaphylaxis and Sabrina’s Law.  Other tools available include an e-learning module and Anaphylaxis Resource Kit that each school received in 2011.

Resource Section for Schools – includes anaphylaxis information, emergency plans, sample school policies, and downloadable lesson plans and activities.

Product Catalogue –includes information cards, awareness posters, books for children and teens, educational videos, resources and more...

Anaphylaxis Learning Centre – includes school related resources and information broadcasts on key strategies for schools to manage allergies safely.

 

Anaphylaxis and Auto Injector Training

Simcoe County

  • Royal Victoria Hospital Asthma Clinic is willing to provide train-the-trainer auto-injector sessions to groups of schools in the Barrie area (no charge) on a limited basis. Contact Janice Woychyshyn at woychyshynj@rvh.on.ca or phone (705) 728-9090 ext. 4135.  
  • St. John Ambulance in Barrie can provide a one-hour session on medical conditions (anaphylaxis, auto-injector training, inhalers, etc.) for a fee. Anaphylaxis training is also one component of their emergency and standard first aid training. Contact Sandra Brown at barrietraining@on.sja.ca or phone (705) 726-0991 ext. 225.
  • Bayshore Home Health: A Registered Nurse can provide educational session(s) pertaining to anaphylaxis (signs and symptoms, use of auto-injectors, etc.) at the school. There is a fee. Contact Tanya Baker or designate at (705) 722-8993, or email tbaker@bayshore.ca.
