Student Voice

'Student voice' encourages students to have a voice in their learning. It helps students be more active citizens and supports student democracy and empowerment.

The health unit supports this vision and invites students to work with us in identifying and addressing health issues within their schools, in partnership with administrators, teachers, parents, health unit staff and other community partners. Students are actively encouraged to work with a Healthy Schools Committee or other existing committee (for example, student council) to address identified issues. This approach encourages students to be leaders and positive role models and recognizes that everyone has a role to play.

If you're ready to work with us around a student voice project, we're ready to work with you. Contact your Healthy Schools public health nurse through Health Connection  by calling 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520.
