Immunization

Background

Immunization protects us from many harmful diseases that once devastated our communities, our country and our world.  Diseases can have very serious complications, even death. Germs that cause disease travel easily throughout the world, diseases have no boundaries. Germs that cause disease are easily spread person to person or can live on surfaces such as taps, counter tops, door handles and skin for several hours, even days.

SMDHU Programs

The health unit offers a variety of services to support student health through immunization, including routine elementary school clinics and catch up secondary school clinics, review of student immunization records and public clinics held at health unit locations across Simcoe Muskoka.

In addition to these immunization services, the health unit also offers a variety of programs and services for secondary schools (PDF), covering a wide range of health-related topics.
