COMPASS

COMPASS (Community Partners with Schools) community school teams across Simcoe County work to address the needs of school children and their families. COMPASS links elementary and secondary schools with providers of school-related supports and services such as:

  • parenting programs
  • child and youth mental health
  • counselling
  • child protection
  • youth justice
  • community recreation and more

COMPASS teams help schools to reduce the social, emotional or behavioural challenges to learning, and to enhance healthy child development. Schools are encouraged to attend their local COMPASS team, and to bring forth school requests. COMPASS is funded by the provincial Ministry of Child and Youth Services.

There are nine COMPASS Community School teams across Simcoe County:  Angus, Barrie, Bradford, Georgian West, Innisfil, North Simcoe, Orillia, South West Simcoe, and a Francophone COMPASS serving Simcoe County.

The Trillium Lakelands District School Board's Community Partners Breakfast meetings are the analogy to COMPASS in the District of Muskoka. As with COMPASS, community partners who are involved with the Breakfast meetings work with schools to share programs and resources to enhance student learning.
