 In Ontario, under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, health units are required to have up-to-date immunization records for all students. Since 2014 new requirements for students have been added.

If parents do not provide this information to the health unit, the child could be temporarily suspended from school.

During consultation with parents, it is helpful that they be reminded to update the health unit after each immunization their child receives (check the child’s immunization card and share that record with the health unit).

Parents can quickly report their child’s immunization online by going to or by calling Health Connection at 705-721-7520, or toll-free at 1-877-721-7520.
