Healthy Communities Partnership

In mid 2010 the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport launched a new provincial program to provide greater opportunities for community members to work together to create and support healthy active communities.

This new province-wide program is called the Healthy Communities Partnership (HCP). The HCP encourages many community members and organizations to come together to address some of the factors affecting good health. These include: physical activity; healthy eating; mental health; reducing tobacco use and exposure; preventing alcohol/substance misuse; and preventing injuries.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Healthy Communities Partnership Team will be working with many community partners across Simcoe County and District of Muskoka to:

  • Improve health and well-being, reduce risks to good health, and save health care costs;
  • Promote partnerships between health promotion organizations and networks;
  • Promote coordinated action at the local, regional, and provincial level;
  • Create policies, plans, and programs that make it easier for Ontarians to be healthier where they live, work, study, or play.

Some of the details about the Simcoe Muskoka Partnership are still being finalized. Meanwhile, we are happy to share what we do know in the form of our newsletter, Healthy Communities Connections.

The Healthy Communities Program Team looks forward to working with you!
