In Simcoe Muskoka 94% of the population has a regular health care provider but there are many other health services that people need to access to maintain health. People who are not able to access health care services like, dentists, physiotherapists, optometrist, dieticians or social workers due to the cost, waiting lists to see a provider, or a lack of transportation, are at a greater risk for poorer health.
What can be done?
Governments can: Provide health benefits for all low income people (children, adults, seniors) including coverage for dental, prescription drugs, eye care, assistive devices and mental health services.
