Investigative tools for journalists

Reporters or members of the public researching public health issues will find a wealth of information in a variety of documents in this website. Following are several links to researched and reviewed documents that contain localized health information.

Food & Income Press Kit

On the heels of the provincial announcement of a pilot project for a basic income program, we explore the impact of low income on food choices.

HealthSTATS

Broad-ranging and up-to-date statistical information on a variety of topics.

Research and Surveys

Detailed reports on ongoing, new or emerging public health issues are linked here. Community surveys are one way of building an understanding of the health issues, attitudes and behaviours of Simcoe Muskoka residents. This understanding is critical to planning effective public health programs and services. Some monthly surveys are conducted through the provincial Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System; others are conducted from time to time when need arises.
