Q: I feel healthy so I don’t need a mammogram…
A: Mammography can detect cancer years before you would notice something. Women between the ages of 50 and 74 should have a mammogram once every two years. When breast cancer is caught early, the rates of successful treatment are much higher.
Talk to your healthcare provider about breast screening and for a centre nearest you, or call Your Health Connection at 721-7520, or 1-877-721-7520 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
