Flu shot campaign hits midway point

17 Nov 2011

About a week and a half remains in the health unit’s public flu vaccine clinics. To date the new online booking system has been well received, resulting in an increase in the number of people receiving their flu shots.

Clinics are being held on Wednesdays and Saturdays through the month of November at locations throughout Simcoe and Muskoka.

Appointments can be booked by going to the health unit’s website at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org and clicking on the red “flu online” button, or by phoning Your Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For those unable to make the health unit’s clinics, the flu vaccine can be obtained from personal health care professionals. Independent clinics have been set up at Georgian College in Orillia and Barrie and at the Barrie Medical Clinics. Dates and times for those clinics can be found on the health unit website.

As well, some larger pharmacies have organized vaccine clinics. Check with your own pharmacy to see if the shots are available.
