Did you know - Your well water should be tested regularly

Feb 13, 2012
If you have a well at home for your drinking water – either drilled or dug – you should be getting the water tested for harmful bacteria at least twice a year.

If you have a well at home for your drinking water – either drilled or dug – you should be getting the water tested for harmful bacteria at least twice a year. The public health inspectors with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit can interpret lab results for you and provide advice on the proper way to disinfect a well, at their new office in the Common Roof at 169 Front Street South in Orillia.

Water bottles for sampling are available at the Ontario Public Health Laboratory or the health unit office.

There’s also good information about well water at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org, in the Safe Water section, or you can call Your Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
