Infection prevention and control is a concept that describes the knowledge, practices and procedures that are followed in an effort to prevent illness in persons and to control the further spread of illness to other persons.
Included in this section are explanations and descriptions of best practices, as well as procedures that have been shown to assist in the prevention and control of illness. It is advisable that these practices/procedures be followed on a regular basis in an effort to prevent illness. In the event of a known illness or an outbreak, these practices/procedures may be altered and/or increased in frequency in order to control the further spread of infection.
