Smoking Cessation in the Workplace - A guide to helping your employees quit smoking.

Workplace Supports for Cessation

It makes good dollars and sense to have a tobacco free workforce. Tobacco-free employees are generally healthier, take few sick days and fewer breaks during the workday.

You may already have the tools available to help your employees quit smoking through your benefits package. Many carriers will cover the cost of such cessation supports and cessation supports and nicotine replacement therapies (NRT)  as the patch, inhalers and pharmaceutical products that help people manage nicotine withdrawal symptoms and other sources that support cessation. Some businesses have even gone so far as to offer incentives for employees who quit in the form of cash, prizes and other recognition to give them the push they need to quit.

The health unit can partner with you to develop a comprehensive plan to support your staff and their families. Quit smoking sessions, resources and policy development are just some of the ways we can help you support and encourage a tobacco-free workforce.
