The School Health Program

The School Health program promotes optimal health, developmental potential and learning among school-aged children and youth in Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. Our staff work in close collaboration with local school board partners, school staff and administrators, students, families, and community partners to make school communities a healthy place for all.

Our approach is evidence based, and aligns closely with the Ministry of Education’s Foundations for a Healthy School framework. We promote and support a range of health topics.

How working with the School Health program changed one school environment:

We offer:

  • Local and provincial data on a variety of topics related to the health of school-aged children and youth.
  • Consultations with educators to support professional development and implementation of health curriculum.
  • Support with creating and implementing school health action plans.
  • Student engagement and leadership opportunities.
  • Mental health initiatives, such as stress management and youth asset development.
  • Evidence-based parenting education and support parent engagement.
  • Assistance with writing funding applications.
