Dental Health Supports

How can I help students with dental needs that the family cannot afford?

Healthy Smiles Ontario is a no cost dental program for children 17 and under from low income households. It covers a full range of dental services including preventive, routine and emergency dental services. Families should contract the health unit to see if they qualify.

What else does the health unit offer?

Screening Program

Elementary School Students:

Oral health staff visit all elementary schools in Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka.  All students in Grades JK, SK, 2 and 8 receive a dental screening.  Children in other grades may be screened in follow up from the previous year or by parent request.

Secondary School Students:

Students can contact the health unit to arrange a screening at one of our offices.

Preventive services such as scaling (cleaning), pit and fissure sealants and fluoride may also be available at health unit offices for students 17 and under (who qualify).
