School Wide Initiatives

A Comprehensive Approach

The most effective way for school communities to ensure the best possible outcomes in support of children and youth is to use a comprehensive approach. Comprehensive School Health is an internationally recognized framework for supporting improvements in students’ educational outcomes while addressing school health in a planned, integrated and holistic way.

Effective, sustainable progress depends on a common vision, shared responsibilities and harmonized actions among health, education and other sectors. More information on Comprehensive School Health is available on the Pan-Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health website.

The Ontario Ministry of Education supports this comprehensive approach with Foundations for a Healthy School.
