Small Drinking Water Systems

Small Drinking Water Systems in Ontario are regulated, as of December 1, 2008, under legislation that was transferred from the Ministry of the Environment to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) and health units.

Public health inspectors work together with owners and operators of small drinking water systems to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to provide safe drinking water to the public.

Small drinking water systems can include restaurants, seasonal trailer parks, summer camps, community centres, motels, churches and many other public facilities not served by municipal water.
