Public Pools and Spas

Public health inspectors must conduct inspections at public pools and spas in order to reduce the disease, injuries and drowning.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has over 300 pools, spas and wading pools in operation throughout our area. Public health inspectors work with operators to maintain safe water and are required to inspect these facilities by the following schedule to ensure compliance with regulations:

• Public Pools: At least two times per year (seasonal) or once every three months (year round)
•  Public Spas: At least two times a year (seasonal) or once every three months (year round)
•  Public Wading Pools: At least two times per year (seasonal) or once every three months (year round)
•  Spray pads/Splash Pads: At least two times per year (seasonal) or once every three months (year round) to monitor sanitation and safety
