Quit smoking with free NRT at Health Unit STOP workshop

Oct 20, 2014
The health unit has partnered with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) to offer workshops this fall to help local adults quit tobacco.

SIMCOE MUSKOKA – The health unit has partnered with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) to offer workshops this fall to help local adults quit tobacco.

Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death and disease in Canada. It is also hard to break the addiction without practice and support.

That support comes in the form of a three-hour STOP workshop that includes a free, five-week supply of the patch. It is a proven nicotine replacement therapy that has been shown to effectively ease withdrawal symptoms that can make it difficult to quit.

Participants in the workshop will learn how to properly use the patch, as well as receive counselling options to help make their quit attempt successful.

The following is a list of workshops until December. Pre-registration is required by calling Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or toll free at 1-877-721-7520.  More information about the STOP Program and workshops, as well as other quit supports can be found online at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org
