Temporary office closure in Collingwood

Aug 06, 2014
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s Collingwood office on Pretty River Parkway will be closed on August 13, reopening August 28, while renovations take place.

COLLINGWOOD – The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s Collingwood office on Pretty River Parkway will be closed on August 13, reopening August 28, while renovations take place.

While every effort is being made to minimize the impact of the closure, it means that some services will not be available as follows.

  • There will be no pickup or drop-off of water bottles for well water sampling. Water bottles may be picked up at other health unit offices.
  • Food service workers will not be able to write their Proton exams in the Collingwood office but can complete the test in the Barrie or Midland office.
  • Immunization clinics on August 27 and September 24 are relocated to the Georgian Bay Family Health Team office at 186 Erie Street, Collingwood. People who wish to have vaccines for themselves or their children can also check with their personal health care provider or visit www.smdhu.org to find dates of clinics at health unit offices elsewhere in our region.
  • During the entire renovation period from August 13 to October, the sexual health and immunization clinics will be relocated to the Georgian Bay Family Health Team office at 186 Erie Street. Please call Health Connection to make an appointment.
  • Special event permits cannot be picked up or dropped off between August 13 and August 27. Online forms are available at http://tinyurl.com/SEpermit.

Staff of the Collingwood office will continue to provide services during this period. Further details of the impact of the renovations are posted on the health unit website at www.smdhu.org.

The health unit recognizes that the changes will create difficulties for some members of the public, and apologizes for the inconvenience, with thanks for your patience.

Any issues or questions related to public health services can be directed to Health Connection at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
